COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Olsen Homers to Lead Titans Past Arkansas in Metrodome
D.C. Olsen’s two-run homer keyed Cal State Fullerton’s 6-5 victory over Arkansas in the Titans’ final game in the Oscar Mayer Classic Sunday in the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Olsen’s homer helped the Titans (8-6) score three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Fullerton scored three more in the sixth and led, 6-1, before Arkansas (7-3) scored four in the eighth. Olsen and Adam Millan were named to the all-tournament team for the Titans, who won one of three games to finish in a second-place tie with Arkansas and Minnesota. Georgia Tech won three games to win the tournament. In the Arizona softball tournament: Fresno State 4, CS Fullerton 3--Fresno State scored four runs in the bottom if the fifth inning in a semifinal game. In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. softball: Chapman 3-7, CS San Bernardino 2-2 (first game, 8)--Pinch-hitter Rachel Fieber hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Chapman won the first game. Eddane Casares, a little-used reserve who went three for three, singled to open the inning. Chapman (3-5, 3-3 in the CCAA) had eight hits and six runs in the first two innings of the second game. San Bernardino is 10-6 and 0-4.
