HemaCare Reports Loss of $238,000 in Quarter
HemaCare Corp., a Sherman Oaks provider of blood-related services and therapies, posted a fourth-quarter loss of $238,000, compared with earnings of $80,000 a year earlier.
The loss in the quarter ended Dec. 31 came despite a 22% increase in revenue, to $3.33 million from $2.73 million a year earlier. The loss stemmed from increased costs of research and development--projects include a proposed treatment for AIDS patients--and the write-off of certain assets.
For all of 1992, HemaCare lost $1.02 million, compared with a $231,000 loss in 1991, and its annual revenue climbed 38%, to $12.4 million from $8.99 million.
