Arkansas Legislators Seek Vasectomy Delay
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Eleven women members of the Arkansas House of Representatives introduced legislation Monday requiring a waiting period for men who want vasectomies after a bill was passed requiring a waiting period for an abortion.
“We will not sit back and allow men to continue to dictate what happens to our bodies,” said Rep. Judy Smith, a Democrat from the south Arkansas city of Camden.
The bill, which would mandate a 24-hour waiting period for men who want vasectomies, is in response to a measure passed recently mandating the same waiting period for women who want an abortion, Smith said.
