While Whittier Christian’s Ila Borders attracts the most attention as a girl playing high school baseball in Orange County, Pacific Shores boasts the same . . . five-fold. The Seahawks have five girls on their roster, and Zeiner could make the highest impact on the program after transferring from Dana Hills where she played softball, Zanelli said. “Ruskin played on our boys’ basketball team also,” Zanelli said. “Everyone here accepts the fact that the girls are just a part of the team. It’s not a big deal.” With the school’s enrollment at 50, everyone has a chance to participate in sports, Zanelli said. The Seahawks have their two best pitchers returning from last season in Lambrose and Ross. Ross also led the team in RBIs, and both players hit over .400. Doidge, who transferred from University, will play shortstop and also will be the Seahawks’ No. 3 pitcher. Chadwick, a left-hander, could start at third base. Littleton, a freshman from Manchester, England, may be the most intriguing player on the roster. “Peter hasn’t played much baseball, but he’s drawing on his cricket experience,” Zanelli said.
