Bid Denied: A United States District Court judge on Wednesday denied director Adolfo Aristarain’s bid to force the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to reinstate his “A Place in the World” as a nominee in the Oscar’s foreign-language film category. Aristarain’s nomination was rescinded because his film was submitted as the official entry from Uruguay, but was produced in Argentina.
