COUNTDOWN TO REUNION: Donald Fagen and Walter Becker are making plans for a summer reunion concert tour of Steely Dan--the first concerts for the act since 1975. No word on who’ll join them in the band, but the tour is expected to begin in Detroit in August and a live album is likely. In addition, a Steely Dan retrospective box set may be released for Christmas.

The reunion grew out of Becker’s helping Fagen on the latter’s “Kamakiriad” album, which is due in May. Fagen had apparently been interested in taking Steely Dan on the road again since his shows in 1991 with the “New York Rock and Soul Revue.”

“I think the tour will be huge,” says Tracy Buie, booker for Los Angeles-based Avalon Attractions. “All those people who bought Steely Dan albums in the ‘70s, then bought them on high quality vinyl in the early ‘80s, and bought them all over again on CDs. They’ll all want to see the group live.”
