SIMI VALLEY : Student, 17, Arrested as Bombing Suspect
A Simi Valley high school student has been arrested in connection with the pipe bombing of a mailbox and three other bomb incidents in the city that occurred in the last few months, police said.
During a search of the Royal High School student’s home, materials to build explosive devices were found, police said. The 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday and taken to Juvenile Hall to await possible charges, police said.
After receiving an anonymous phone call, investigators interviewed several people who identified two youths believed responsible for the bombings, police said. Only one was arrested.
Investigators suspect the youth, whose name was not released because of his age, of bombing a mailbox at Sinaloa Road, a telephone at Royal High School, a street sign and a pizza company sign, all since the first of the year, police said.
