Newhall Condo Project Given Tentative OK
A senior citizens condominium project received tentative approval from Los Angeles County supervisors, but only after developers promised that the condos would be occupied by people over the age of 55.
During a hearing Thursday on an environmental review of the Valencia Co.’s proposal to construct 192 condos on Bouquet Canyon Road near Newhall Ranch Road, one neighbor asked the board to ensure that the project remain for seniors only.
A representative of Valencia Co. said that the developer has no intention of switching from the seniors’ use, but a county planner said nothing in the county approval would limit the condos to that use.
Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who represents the area, asked county planners to draft an ordinance that would seal the developer’s promise. The ordinance will be brought back for a final vote at a future meeting.
