STATE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Palo Alto Wins Division III Title
OAKLAND — Palo Alto High completed a perfect season with a 79-59 victory over Inglewood Morningside in the boys’ State Division III final Saturday night at the Oakland Coliseum Arena.
It was a frustrating finish for Morningside senior Stais Boseman, who is headed to USC. The 6-foot-4 forward made only three of 19 shots and scored only 12 points, seven less than his average.
The defending champion Monarchs (29-6), playing without starting point guard Sean Harris, who sat out for disciplinary reasons, shot 34.3% and made only two of 20 three-point shots.
David Weaver led Palo Alto (31-0) with 25 points.
Emeryville Emery 74, Cypress Brethren Christian 47--Led by 7-foot center Darnell Robinson, who had 31 points, 18 rebounds and five blocked shots, and 6-8 forward EndieckoBattles, who had 16 points and five rebounds, the Spartans dominated from the start to win the Division V boys’ championship.
Emery (30-5) opened a 19-2 lead and increased its margin to 30 points during the second half. Scott Thomas had 25 points for Brethren Christian (27-7).
