LITTLE MONEY: MacDonald Harris’ “A Portrait of My Desire,” set in a wealthy coastal gated community called “Orange Bay”--read Emerald Bay--is the Newport Beach author’s 16th novel (E1). Harris says he’s never had an impulse to write an action thriller. . . . “The kind of novel a writer writes comes out of his identity,” he says. “I’m perfectly content with the kind of success my books have had.
