Westwood One Puts Magazine on Block: Westwood One Inc., the nation’s largest producer of radio shows and operator of five radio networks, put its Radio & Records trade magazine up for sale along with a related information services business. The sale is part of a two-year plan to refocus the Los Angeles-based firm on its core radio network business, which includes the Mutual Broadcasting System and the NBC radio network, and return the company to profitability, said Chief Executive Norman J. Pattiz. Westwood One has been on a spree of asset sales to cut down its big debt load, including pending deals for album-oriented rock station KQLZ-FM in Los Angeles and country station WYNY-FM in New York for a total of $90 million.
