LOS ANGELES : Red Line Trains to Run Twice as Often at Times
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will increase the frequency of Red Line subway trains during rush hours, officials announced.
As of Monday, subway cars will run every five minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, during peak hours. Weekend trains and all other non-rush-hour service will continue to run every 10 minutes.
MTA officials will increase subway frequency during three peak travel times on weekdays: morning (6 to 8 a.m.); lunch (11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.), and evening (3:55 to 5:15 p.m.).
“We believe this adjustment in the frequency of Red Line train service will better accommodate MTA patrons by decreasing the waiting time between trains during busy hours,” said Franklin White, chief executive officer of the MTA.
The Red Line runs between Union Station and MacArthur Park.
