Nation IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Buttafuoco Charged With Statutory Rape

Joey Buttafuoco was indicted by a Nassau County grand jury on charges of statutory rape, sodomy and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly having sex with Amy Fisher when she was 16, sources said. Buttafuoco, 37, of Massapequa, N.Y., declined to comment. The indictment came nearly 11 months after Fisher shot his wife, Mary Jo Buttafuoco, in the head on the Buttafuocos’ doorstep. Fisher, now 18, pleaded guilty to shooting and wounding her seven months ago. Fisher told police she was having an affair with Buttafuoco, but he has maintained that the closest he got to her was sharing an occasional pizza.
