Garment’s comments were cogent until her conclusion that comedians are motivated by envy because “they woke up to find that Clinton and his wife were President and First Lady . . . and they were not.” Does she really want us to believe that stand-up comedians expected or even wanted to be President? Why didn’t she consider this motivation: disappointment in the contrast between the Clintons’ grandiose campaign promises and their post-election performance.
