U.S. Investigating ChipSoft Acquisition of Meca: San Diego-based ChipSoft Inc. and Meca Software Inc. reported that the antitrust division of the U.S. Justice Department has begun an inquiry into the previously announced acquisition of Meca by ChipSoft. A wholly owned subsidiary of ChipSoft commenced a tender offer on April 15 for all of Meca’s outstanding common stock at $11.625 a share in cash under terms of a previously announced merger agreement between the two firms. The companies are cooperating with the inquiry.
