UNIVERSAL CITY : Permit Expected for Wolfgang Puck Cafe
Little opposition is expected today at a public hearing to decide if Chef to the Stars Wolfgang Puck should be allowed to sell beer and wine in his “Wolfgang Puck Cafe” slated to open in mid-June in Universal City.
The renowned restaurateur, who also owns trendy eateries in Tokyo, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Santa Monica and Malibu, needs a special permit to sell alcoholic beverages in the new cafe because current zoning regulations prohibit it.
“I don’t expect any opposition (to the project),” said Zoning Administrator John Parker, who will conduct the hearing at 9 a.m. today at the Van Nuys Woman’s Club, 14836 Sylvan St.
Puck’s cafe will be a culinary cornerstone in the Universal Citywalk development, which is scheduled to open in May and include three dozen retail shops, specialty restaurants, a museum and a cinematic thrill ride.
