Pop Album Chart : ‘Porno for Pyros’ Premieres at No. 3
Ex-Jane’s Addiction leader Perry Farrell has a hot new group Porno for Pyros--hotter than anyone imagined. Its “Porno for Pyros” album made a surprisingly impressive chart premiere, at No. 3. “The Bodyguard” is back on top, enjoying its final moments as chart leader--a position it will vacate permanently when the new Janet Jackson album comes out in two weeks. The pace of H Town’s charge up the pop chart is quickening. The R&B; group’s album “Fever for Da Flavor” jumped 17 places to No. 31, pushed by the fast-rising single “Knockin’ Da Boots”--now No. 7 on the pop singles chart. To no one’s surprise, Jackson’s single “That’s the Way Love Goes” took over the top spot on the pop chart, reaching the pinnacle in just three weeks.
* This was expected to open big--and it did. “Exposed” just missed being a Top 10 entry, landing at No. 13. Naturally, there’s plenty of fan interest in Neil’s first album since being fired as Motley Crue’s lead singer last year. But, like most of the other hard rock albums these days, it may not have much staying power.
