Postal Carriers to Collect Donations of Food Saturday
LONG BEACH AREA — Letter carriers in the Long Beach Postal District will pick up non-perishable food items on their regular rounds Saturday as part of a national food drive organized by the National Assn. of Letter Carriers.
Residents can help carriers by leaving unopened, non-perishable items near their mailboxes on Saturday. Letter carriers will pick up the food, which will be distributed to local food banks.
Food that is donated will serve residents in the communities in which it is collected.
The Long Beach District, which includes ZIP codes 902 through 908, covers 556 square miles and serves 3.4 million customers. With 45 post offices, it includes all South Bay cities plus Beverly Hills.
