It’s a Bargain
The April 25 “Shopper’s Tips for Foreign Bargaining” had some great ideas on bargaining. Although hardly youths, my wife and I have found a couple of others.
Most of all, know what something costs at home. Many times you can buy the same foreign-made item cheaper at home. Use the “good guy--bad guy” routine. We were in a boutique where we were told there was no bargaining. My wife tried on a jacket and asked me how I liked it. Since I really didn’t, I answered truthfully in the negative. The price came down 50% immediately. While our intent at the time was not to get those results, we have used that ploy successfully ever since.
