A motorcyclist was killed in Santa Clarita on Sunday after he veered into oncoming traffic, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Theodore Paschal of San Fernando died after the crash, which occurred about noon on Soledad Canyon Road, just north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, CHP Officer Bruce Ferrier said.

Paschal was traveling north when he swerved across the center divider and slammed head-on into a southbound car, Ferrier said. Paschal was wearing a half-shell helmet that does not meet California Department of Transportation standards, Ferrier said.
