O.C. Teams in L.A. Watts Summer Games
Thirty-five high school teams from Orange County will participate in the L.A. Watts Summer Games beginning this weekend. The games are sponsored by the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce.
The schedule:
Baseball: Saturday, Tustin vs. L.A. University, Compton College, noon; Brea-Olinda vs. Taft, West L.A. College, noon. Sunday, Kennedy (first-round bye) vs. winner of Arcadia-Santa Monica, Compton College, 3 p.m.. The championship game is June 20 at Commerce Veterans Memorial Park.
Boys’ Basketball: Saturday, Kennedy vs. Westside Prep, L.A. Fremont HS, 10 a.m.; Ocean View vs. South Pasadena, L.A. Washington HS, 11 a.m.; Calvary Chapel vs. Cajon, Compton College, noon; Saddleback vs. Pomona, Fremont HS, noon; Villa Park vs. Santa Barbara, L.A. Dorsey HS, 1 p.m.; Brethren Christian vs. Encino Crespi, Culver City HS, 4 p.m. The championship game is 2:30 p.m., June 20, at Compton College.
Girls’ Basketball: Saturday, La Quinta vs. Fairfax, L.A. Crenshaw HS, 10 a.m.; La Habra vs. St. Mary’s, Inglewood Morningside HS, 10 a.m.; Kennedy vs. Garfield, Morningside HS, 1 p.m.; Rancho Alamitos vs. South Torrance, L.A. Manual Arts HS, 4 p.m. The championship game is 1:30 p.m., June 20, at Compton College.
Football: Saturday, Western vs. Santa Monica, Compton College, 9 a.m. The championship game is 1 p.m., June 20, at Compton College.
Boys’ Soccer: All games at North Torrance High School. Saturday, Orange vs. La Canada, 10 a.m.; San Clemente vs. John Muir, 11 a.m.; Capistrano Valley vs. Trabuco Hills, 11 a.m. Sunday, Anaheim vs. Lynwood, 9 a.m.; Laguna Hills vs. Burbank, 10 a.m.; Servite vs. Canoga Park, 10 a.m.; Marina vs. Wilson, 11 a.m.; Huntington Beach vs. Glendale Hoover, 11 a.m. The championship game is noon, June 20, at Compton College.
Girls’ Soccer: Saturday, Trabuco Hills vs. Granada Hills, L.A. John Ferraro Field, 10 a.m.; Mission Viejo vs. Garfield, Ferraro Field, 11 a.m. Sunday, El Toro vs. Highland, Pasadena Victory Park, 9 a.m.; Orange vs. Don Lugo, Victory Park, 11 a.m.; Magnolia vs. Arcadia, Victory Park, noon; Capistrano Valley (first-round bye) vs. winner of La Salle-Santa Monica, Victory Park, 1 p.m. The championship game is 11 a.m., June 20, at Compton College.
Boys’ Volleyball: Saturday, pool play starts at 9 a.m. at Westchester High School, involving Bolsa Grande, Mater Dei and La Quinta. The championship match is 4 p.m. Saturday at Torrance High.
Girls’ Volleyball: Saturday, pool play starts at 9 a.m. at Venice and L.A. Hamilton high schools, involving Bolsa Grande and La Quinta. The championship match is 4 p.m. Saturday at Torrance High.
Water Polo: June 19, Esperanza vs. Crespi, Bell Gardens HS, 2 p.m. The championship game is 3 p.m., June 20, at Bell Gardens High.
