Festival Will Be an Animated Event
You’ve enjoyed such animation blockbusters as “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Fern Gully” and the like--now here’s your chance to meet the creators of these films and other animated productions.
The Ojai Film Society will present its Animation IV Festival on Saturday and Sunday at Matilija Junior High School. The event is multifaceted: not only will festival-goers get to view a wide variety of films--including sneak previews of the latest major animated productions--but they can learn firsthand from some of the biggest names in the industry during a variety of lectures and workshops.
Meet such animators as David Silverman (“The Simpsons”), Eric Goldberg (“Aladdin”) and Sergio Aragones (“Groo, the Wonderer” comic book).
“This is where the professionals get to share their work and talent and have fun with the general public,” said Sally Janover, co-founder of the Ojai Film Society.
Lecture and discussion highlights: watch state-of-the-art animation computers in action, learn current techniques being taught in universities, television animation features and much more.
Workshop highlights (for children and adults): lessons for drawing on film, books, video animation and zoetrope. Admission to any single event or workshop is $10. The school is at 703 El Paseo Road, Ojai. For a detailed schedule of events, call 646-8946.
