Looking for summer reading? The used-book sale Saturday at the Hermosa Beach Public Library is a good place to find it--cheap.
The outdoor sale, whose theme is “Books at the Beach!” will offer more than 2,000 paperbacks and hardcovers ranging from Stephen King chillers to a complete set of “The Great Books,” says Charlotte Malone, chairwoman of the event. Prices for most volumes will be 50 cents, though some hard-to-find tomes will cost up to $5.
The sale, held four times a year to benefit the library, is by no means limited to dogeared volumes. Even though the books are secondhand, Malone says, they’re often suitable for gifts.
“A lot of people look ahead and get these books for Christmas,” she said. “Some of them look really new.”
What: Used book sale at Hermosa Beach Public Library.
When: Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
