HOLLYWOOD PARK : Earl Of Barking Provides Sweep
Hollywood Park has been much kinder to trainer Richard Cross than Santa Anita.
After failing to win a race during Santa Anita’s 85-day meeting, Cross has four victories in Inglewood, three of them in stakes.
Five races after Silvered won the Star Ball Handicap, Earl Of Barking gave the 38-year-old Englishman a stakes sweep Sunday in the $100,000 Cinema Handicap.
The 1-2 favorite against four other 3-year-olds, Earl Of Barking defeated Manny’s Prospect by a length in 1:47 2/5 for the 1 1/8 miles on turf.
Ridden by Chris McCarron for the first time, the Common Grounds colt now has three victories in four starts on the Hollywood Park turf.
Manny’s Prospect finished 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Minks Law.
