Notebook Computers: Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. in Irvine is shipping three of its notebook computers with Microsoft’s new DOS 6.0 operating system, which governs the basic functions of a personal computer.
The notebook computer models include the Satellite T1900, T4500 and T4600. Notebook computers are portable and weigh less than eight pounds. The models will be sent out with the operating system already installed on their hard disk drives.
Upgrades for DOS 6.0 from the previous version are available for $9 for Toshiba customers. During the month of July, buyers of T4500 or T4500C models can get free DOS 6.0 upgrades. Toshiba also said it signed an agreement with Office Depot Inc. to distribute its Satellite Series notebook computers in 314 Office Depot stores nationwide.
