Dilapidation of Beverly Hills High

On June 17 you ran a first-person article by R. David Stephens headlined “The Reality Behind the Image of Beverly Hills High.”

Being a student at Beverly, I must say that his description was unfair. He claimed that the paint is peeling, concrete is cracked, and tiles are falling from the ceilings. Give me a break! Was he looking at the same school that I have been in for the past year?

Beverly is a great school, and in my opinion, is in fabulous condition. Stephens failed to mention our beautifully kept tennis courts, our several theaters, the lavish artwork that is displayed all over campus, the greenery throughout the school, our planetarium, library or the many vending machines. Also, the Swim Gym is still as lovely as it was in “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

That is why Beverly, and the Swim Gym especially, have recently been the filming site of two motion pictures, “The Coneheads” and “The Beverly Hillbillies.” I just hope that in the future, whoever writes an article about Beverly does a little more research first. By the way, I’m finishing my first year at Beverly, and I haven’t been hit by a tile yet!
