A man who claimed to have a gun robbed a movie theater and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said Thursday.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, a man stepped up to the cashier’s booth at the Edwards Saddleback theaters, 23684 El Toro Road, with his hand in his jacket pocket simulating a weapon, said Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson.
The man demanded money from the cashier, who handed him the cash register receipts. The suspect ran away, heading behind the theater complex.
Olson described the suspect as being about 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.
He had short dark hair and was wearing a tan jacket.
