For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

* Tuberous begonias can give bountiful flower displays in summer and should be fed throughout the hot months.

* Fallen fruit, vegetables and flowers can play host to various pests such as worms, borers and larvae, so be sure to clean up regularly.

* Vegetable gardens need deep and thorough watering to reach roots several feet below the soil surface.

* For a lush green carpet in a shaded flower bed, rock garden or raised bed, plant baby tears. It spreads rapidly filling in the same areas where you plant it.
