Four days after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder, Cal State Northridge junior left-hander John Bushart signed with the Angels. Bushart, a 24th-round pick, is not expected to throw at top speed until February or March. The 1989 Thousand Oaks High graduate was the ace of the Matador staff until his shoulder began to hurt in early April. He pitched through the pain, finishing with a 10-4 record and a 4.38 earned-run average. “I’m very relieved, and also very happy,” Bushart said.
