LOCAL NOTES : Chapman’s Coach is Former Olympic Long Jumper

Anna Wlodarczyk, a former Olympic long jumper for Poland, has been named women’s track and cross-country coach at Chapman.

Wlodarczyk, fourth in the long jump at the 1980 Moscow Games and won the event at the 1980 European Indoor Championships, was on the Polish national team for 14 years.

She previously was an assistant track coach at Pasadena and Citrus colleges.

Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza shot a two-under 71 in Thursday’s third round to take over first place by six shots in the girls’ division of the Rolex Tournament of Champions junior golf tournament at the Horseshoe Bend Country Club in Roswell, Ga.

Alicia Allison of Santa Ana shot a 79 and is 18 strokes behind Booth.

The National Seniors Open table tennis tournament, a three-day event featuring 23 age-group and rating-based divisions and a purse exceeding $10,000, begins today at Leisure World.

Attila Malek of Costa Mesa and Rey Domingo of Little Ferry, N.J., are among the entrants. While Malek defeated Domingo in the over-30 Open final last year, both will compete for the over-40 Open title and the $1,000 first prize.

The Senior All-Stars competition, which features the top players on the senior tour, begins at 10:30 a.m. today with play in six other divisions following.
