A 15-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly plotting his parents’ murder over the telephone, authorities said.

The youth--offering up to $400 and possibly two shotguns--asked a friend to find someone willing to kill his parents, authorities said.

“The young man was trying to hire somebody to kill his parents,” Alameda County sheriff’s Lt. Ted Nelson said Friday. “He was trying to hire a third party through this other fellow.’

Authorities said the Castro Valley High School student was angry at his parents, who were planning to send him to a youth discipline camp in Utah.

“The minor was obviously concerned about the control and discipline that his parents were placing him under,” said Deputy Dist. Atty. Mark Thomson. “Our office considers this a very serious case.”

The boy, whose identity wasn’t released, remained in custody at Juvenile Hall on Friday on charges of conspiracy, obtaining firearms and solicitation of murder, among other charges.
