Dole to Build Plant to Process Vegetables

A division of Westlake Village-based Dole Food Co. Inc. will build a state-of-the-art facility in Soledad to process pre-cut, pre-washed vegetables and salads.

Dole Fresh Vegetables Co. plans to build the Monterey County plant by April, 1994, five months after a twin facility in Yuma, Ariz., is completed. The two facilities combined will provide between 200 and 400 jobs over the next few years and will operate seasonally.

Soledad was chosen for its proximity to fresh vegetable farms and farm labor.
