A Chance to Dump the ‘Undumpables’
Los Angeles County residents may dispose of hazardous household waste free of charge at two area colleges.
Automotive batteries, used motor oil, coolant, detergents containing acids or lye, pesticides, paint and other household chemicals will be accepted in the program.
The waste will be collected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 7 at Cerritos College, 11110 E. Alondra Blvd., Norwalk, and Aug. 14 at Rio Hondo College, 3600 Workman Mill Road (Parking Lot A), Whittier.
People will be limited to five gallons or 50 pounds of waste per vehicle.
It is illegal to dump hazardous waste in the trash, sewers or storm drains.
