Pasadena : Center Developer Named
The Pasadena Community Development Commission approved Pasadena Commercial Development Co. as builder of the proposed Fair Grove shopping center in Northwest Pasadena.
The company is headed by Danny Bakewell, a developer and community activist who leads the Los Angeles-based Brotherhood Crusade.
The proposed shopping center, at Fair Oaks Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard, would be the first in the predominantly black and Latino neighborhood. A Vons supermarket is expected to anchor the nearly 70,000-square-foot shopping center.
City officials were directed Tuesday to prepare an exclusive negotiation agreement with the developer. Final action on the project is expected in mid-August.
