Standing amid the strewn remains of a twin-engine plane and the belongings of its passengers Monday morning, authorities said all six people on board died instantly when the Cessna 310 plummeted to the ground in a sparsely developed industrial area in Lancaster.

The plane crashed about 8 p.m. Sunday just one minute after requesting landing instructions from the tower at Fox Field, about six miles northwest of the crash site.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board said there was no evidence of fuel in the plane’s tanks, but would not say whether the crash was related to the lack of fuel.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has not yet identified the bodies, although family members said Israel Feldman, 34, of Sherman Oaks and his fiancee, Orit Mormi, were among the victims. Feldman was believed to be the pilot.
