VENTURA : Gunman in Bank Robbery Sought
A lone gunman held up a branch of Ventura County National Bank in Ventura Tuesday afternoon, fleeing in a BMW with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.
The lone male, who witnesses described as about 27 years old, entered the bank at 4730 Telephone Road shortly after 4 p.m. and demanded money from a teller, said Ventura Police Sgt. Roger Nustad.
After showing the teller a gun he carried under his gray jacket, the robber was handed an undetermined amount of cash and fled, Nustad said.
He knocked down a customer in his haste, Nustad said.
The gunman drove off in a black sedan, eluding several police checkpoints that had been set up to prevent his escape, Nustad said.
