Ingram Micro Shows 48% Surge in Second-Quarter Sales
Ingram Micro Inc., the world’s largest computer products distribution company, reported that its second-quarter sales increased 48% to $914 million.
The company is riding a strong surge in demand fueled by computer price cuts and new products, said David Dukes, president of the Santa Ana-based company.
The launch of Microsoft Corp.’s DOS 6.0 operating software, which controls the basic functions of a personal computer, helped sales growth during the quarter.
For the first six months of 1993, Ingram reported sales of $1.8 billion, up from $1.2 billion a year earlier. The privately held company does not disclose profits.
