BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Reds’ Browning Arrested for Pot
Cincinnati pitcher was arrested Thursday in Burlington, Ky., and charged with possession of marijuana.
Boone County Police Sgt. Anthony Trimble said Browning was charged after being stopped for improperly passing another vehicle on Interstate 275.
Trimble said he smelled in Browning’s car and called in a drug-sniffing dog to confirm his suspicion. He said he found less than eight ounces of marijuana in the car.
Browning, who was released on his own recognizance, has been charged with possession of marijuana, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $500 fine.

Texas catcher Ivan Rodriguez--who has eight consecutive hits--broke a bone in the face Thursday when he was accidentally hit by the bat of Kansas City’s Hubie Brooks. He could be out for as long as six weeks. . . . Cleveland Indian pitcher Bob Ojeda is undergoing psychiatric treatment in Baltimore as part of his recovery from a boating accident during spring training that killed two teammates, his agent said.
