Demonstrators protesting the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba staged a hunger strike in a school bus U.S. Customs agents impounded in Laredo. The bus was part of a 95-vehicle convoy carrying about 100 tons of supplies bound for Cuba. The other vehicles entered Mexico earlier. The supplies are to be sent to Cuba from Mexico, which has no restrictions on exports to Cuba. Officials told the 14 people aboard that they could leave if they didn’t drive the bus to Mexico. Pastors for Peace said the cargo includes computers, medicine, wheelchairs and school supplies.
