Dance Classes

Regarding juvenile offenders being sentenced to dancing or acting classes (July 22): Kudos to Superior Court Judge Jaime R. Corral for sentencing undisciplined kids to a world of artistic innovation. These children will be introduced into the culture of dance, music, and drama. Not only will they enjoy these distinctive arts, but they will find out what hard work and discipline really are!

In a era where gangbanging, drive-by shootings, tagging, etc., are commonplace in our inner-city life Judge Corral offers hope for a select few.

Instead of putting a tagger in the tank or sentencing him to dance school (how silly can they get?), sentence him to clean up the mess he made--at his own expense. If he can afford to buy paint to put graffiti on, then he can afford to buy paint to remove it.

Sentence him to keep a specific area graffiti-free, preferably the area he was caught defacing. Let him see how gratifying it is when, 10 minutes after he has laboriously cleaned a spot, some other loony tags it and he has to clean it all over again.
