MISSION VIEJO : Deadline Is Sept. 1 for Service Grants

Community service groups will have until Sept. 1 to meet the first quarter deadline for city grants.

The city has set aside $50,000 in the 1993-94 budget to benefit local nonprofit organizations that provide services in Mission Viejo.

The funds are passed out to qualified applicants four times a year. Recipients have used the city grants for such programs as music outreach classes for children, services for senior citizens and a home for teen-age mothers.

The city grants are also extended to special community events and cultural arts programs.

Priority is given to nonprofit groups that provide services to the largest number of Mission Viejo residents. City officials are also looking for programs that otherwise would go unfulfilled.

Applications can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation Department in City Hall, 26522 La Alameda. For information, call (714) 348-2061.
