BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Karros Detects Problem but Sits
Eric Karros, who has been trying to fight his way out of a slump, missed only his second game out of the past 69 when he was rested Wednesday.
Karros came out early Wednesday to take batting practice and said that he had figured out what his problem has been. Still, the coaching staff said they thought Karros could use a mental rest.
“It’s not a mental thing, it’s a mechanical problem,” said Karros, who is four for 24 in seven games on this trip. “. . . I wanted to play, but I’m not going to argue.”

Tim Wallach took live batting practice Wednesday for the first time since being sidelined July 18 because of a broken rib. He hit well and said he felt good. He will be examined Friday in Los Angeles by Dr. Frank Jobe and could be activated then.
