The Board of Education has chosen Wesley A. Bosson, a former Temple City schools superintendent, to act as interim superintendent until a permanent replacement is named.

After 13 years in San Marino, Supt. Gary Richards is leaving the school district Aug. 12 to become superintendent of a Connecticut school district.

Board President Nancy Bartlett introduced Bosson, who retired from the Temple district in 1990, at last week’s school board meeting.

“He comes very highly recommended, and his selection will now allow us to look at the search process,” Bartlett said.

A new superintendent is expected to be selected by September.

San Marino has also lost its fire chief.

John DeMonaco resigned to head Westminster’s Fire Department, which is three times the size of San Marino’s.

DeMonaco was the first fire chief recruited from outside the ranks of San Marino’s department when he was hired in 1989.

Assistant City Manager Debbie Bell said no decisions have been made yet on a replacement.
