United Way Seeking ‘Day of Caring’ Help
The United Way of Ventura County is looking for volunteers to help with general maintenance work on social service agency buildings throughout the county Sept. 11 as part of the fifth annual “Day of Caring.”
Volunteers will be asked to spend a few hours that day to help with agency and community projects, such as landscaping, painting, graffiti removal, packing food and minor construction, said Donna Northcutt, assistant to the director of marketing at United Way.
“Some people are not able to give money but they’re able to give time. They just don’t know how to do it,” Northcutt said. “This gives people an outlet.”
She said the organization especially needs volunteers with contractor experience in painting, landscaping and minor construction. Projects will be conducted in Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Ventura, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Camarillo.
Donations of supplies also are being sought, particularly paint, Northcutt said. To volunteer, call 485-6288.
