Charity Is a Big Winner at Night Bass Tournament

Bass fishermen were busy this past week, particularly at Lake Piru, where a night tournament was held to benefit abused and neglected children.

In a dense fog, 42 teams scattered about the lake reeled in 101 bass, all but one of which were released after the weigh-in. Buck and Laqura Bauernfield of Castaic won team and big fish honors with a five-fish weight of 16.20 pounds, including a 7.15-pounder.

The real winner, though, was the Santa Clarita Special Children’s Center, which received $1,800.
