WORLD IN BRIEF : NORTH KOREA : Atom Team Says Key Access Still Barred
North Korea continues to restrict access to two suspect nuclear sites, and an agreement on full inspections appears to be deadlocked, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog said in Vienna. A team of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency returned from a weeklong visit to North Korea Thursday and said they were only allowed to carry out maintenance work on monitoring equipment at the plants in Yongbyon. “We are not getting the kind of satisfactory access required to move our inspections procedures ahead,” IAEA spokesman David Kyd told the Reuters news agency.
