CALABASAS : Plans Put on Hold for Senior, Youth Center
A proposal to build a recreational center for children and senior citizens in Calabasas has been put on hold because of possible fire hazards until the owner submits plans for a second driveway.
Plans to build the 5,475-square-foot facility at the corner of Old Topanga Canyon and Dry Canyon Cold Creek roads were approved by the Planning Commission last month, pending review by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“Because the property is next to a steep cliff, and there is falling shale from an adjacent property, the Fire Department has determined that there needs to be a second access (to the property),” said Calabasas Associate Planner Anna-Lisa Hernandez.
At its regular meeting last week, the Planning Commission postponed further review of the project until plans are submitted for a second driveway.
The proposed day care and senior recreation center includes an outdoor play area, indoor arts and crafts space and walking paths.
