Volunteers Sought for Waste Drop-Off
Thousand Oaks officials are looking for volunteers to help with the next Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off program scheduled for Sept. 18 and 19.
Volunteers will work in teams for two-hour shifts to collect surveys and answer questions about the program, officials said.
Volunteers will not handle toxic materials.
The event allows residents to safely dispose of hazardous chemicals commonly found in the home, such as paint, oil, pesticides, cleansers and batteries, officials said.
A similar by-appointment event held in June attracted nearly 2,000 residents. Once again, appointments will be necessary to participate in the drop-off, said Carolyn Greene, the city’s solid-waste planner.
About 800 residents have signed up for the fall event so far, Greene said.
The city has space for about 1,500 reservations.
