IRVINE : IBM Donates Office Furniture to College

Irvine Valley College’s journalism lab has a new look, thanks to the donation of $117,378 worth of office furniture from IBM.

The lab, which serves as the newsroom for the college newspaper, was remodeled during the summer. The folding chairs and tables that students once used to produce the Voice newspaper were replaced by 26 modern workstations.

IBM donated about 500 surplus office items--ranging from desks and chairs to file cabinets and partitions--to the college earlier this summer, said college spokesman George McCrory.

The items were also used in faculty offices and at the office of admissions and records, he said.

The donation was organized by IBM executive Nancy Beverage, who was recently honored for her efforts by the Irvine Valley College Foundation.
