J. Murray Luck; Longest-Serving Faculty Member at Stanford

J. Murray Luck, 93, Stanford University’s longest-serving faculty member. The son of an Ontario, Canada, blacksmith, Luck taught biochemistry at Stanford from 1926 until his retirement in 1965. He also founded the university’s “Annual Reviews,” critical reviews and analyses of scientific research literature. Luck published more than 200 scientific papers and was the author of “Science in Switzerland” and “Modern Switzerland,” among other books. On Thursday in Menlo Park, Calif., of pneumonia.
